9th to 16th Jan2014 was the feast for pune film goers. 200 national international films were screened in different multiplexes. I had made it point to view only non marathi films for a simple reason that those can be seen any time later as well. But Sharada's preference was for Marathi film because much easy to follow and also hopefully not very hot.I was making the decision of seeing the movie on the basis of the synopsis. The major problem I facing was the following the english (where ever english was the dialouge spoken.) In cases where it is any other foreign language is spoken and even the english sub titles are given I was finding it difficult to follow the film in toto. In some cases the sub titles are so long that by the time I complete reading the entire sentence next would have appeared. Hence there was dilema as to whethere to keep reading the sub titles or view the sequence of events. Any way over all it was a great experience. There appears to be lot of similarity amongst us and them. There concern for heritage preservation, suspecion and resintance for western culture, relation between parents children, husband wife. Possesiveness of relationships etc. are very much Indian.
Last time I had seen quite a few films from Iran. They were very good. Those films have changed my views about the country. Some time back we had attended afaganistan film festivalin film archieve. I felt that they were very bold in presentation.
